These days, there's plenty of horror content to keep you occupied all day and night. From physical media (many of us have large libraries of media) to streaming services, there's something for everyone, and the content on each mostly differ from one another. However, being the horror fanatics we are, there are times when we want to settle down and watch one or more films from a particular subgenre, such as, say, found footage.

Enter Found TV.

Launched in 2024, Found TV is a global streaming platform that delivers new and classic found footage films through both premium and freemium services. Their apps can be found on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android, and iPhone, as well as offering the opportunity to stream through your browser. In addition to allowing filmmakers to submit their films, they offer a number of merch on their shop and have an active newsletter.

While found footage may be a specific genre to focus on, and it's something that Found TV prides themselves on, you'd be surprised at the large library they've pulled together, helping group the films into subcategories for those looking for a particular film (e.g. Zombies, Slasher). It's incredibly helpful, and we continue to look forward to seeing them continue to grow in this space.

📅 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival is returning to Brooklyn, New York on October 15-22, 2026! They just released their lineup, which includes feature films such as THE DEN and TRICK ‘r TREAT, and THE CYCLE, which premieres on Shudder next month, as well as a number of short film blocks and more. The event lineup can be found here.

🪚 On November 10th, are you ready to play a game? If so, Lionsgate has you covered with the release of SAW IV, SAW V, and SAW VI, all being released on 4K UHD/Blu-ray/Digital and including both theatrical and extended/unrated versions.

📱 Actor-Musician “Kid Cudi” will be both directing and starring in WRONG NUMBER. The film, which will also star Barbie Ferreira (FACES OF DEATH (2026)), is about a self-help author whose unexpected romance with a mysterious woman named Eliza (Ferreira) turns into a waking nightmare. We’re not sending this film to voicemail!

📼 V/H/S: SCP will be receiving the theatrical treatment, the first for the long-running franchise, thanks to A24, which will be co-producing the film. It’ll play in theaters in 2027. The next film in the franchise, V/H/S/MIXTAPE, will arrive on Shudder in October.

🎉 Angel Melanson, former digital editor at Fangoria, is heading to Shudder, where she’ll be their Director of Programming.

📅 The Soho Horror Film Festival announced its first wave of films playing at its annual festival, which will be held in London (Brixton) this November. This initial lineup includes SENDER and GODHEAD, among others, while its online/remote component (SoHome Horror Film Festival) will feature COMPLIANCE and THIS HOUSE IS TOTALLY HAUNTED.

Since we’re talking Found TV this week, I wanted to share a few reading recs that tell the stories through found artifacts as well.

Found: An Anthology of Found Footage Horror Stories edited by Andrew Cull and Gabino Iglesias - Using the classic trope of the found footage anthology meta-story, Found tells a story of 18 horror writers who disappeared in the summer of 2021, including some of my favorites like Clay McLeod Chapman and Josh Rountree. These are the horror stories they were working on at the time of their disappearances.

The October Film Haunt by Michael Wehunt - One of the scariest books I read last year, this one follows a former horror vlogger as we used to call them who is trying to get a fresh start in life but is sent a cursed video which unleashes hell - figuratively and literally? - on her life. Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven - Told primarily through news reports, a group of people are trapped at Not-Disneyland, and it becomes an apocalyptic survival scenario in a matter of hours. A lot of fun on audiobook! Full review: https://candikathorror.com/reads/fantasticland
